To create great ambassadors and supporters of the university, the alumni office is launching the North Star Club, a mentorship program that will support young and experienced alumni in their all-round development. This program works at adding value to Strathmore both young and experienced alumni.
Through SUConnect http://strathmoreconnect.org/ we facilitate and connect recent graduates (from 1 years after graduation) to experienced alumni (over 10 years’ work experience) in their field. The purpose of the mentorship is to offer/receive guidance and support for smooth industry transition as well as personal and professional development.
Through interactions (online and in person), experienced alumni mentors work and interact with younger alumni with a clear vision of working to support their professional and personal development.
North Stars are Strathmore alumni with 7-10 years of professional experience willing to volunteer by working with and supporting the professional and personal growth of younger alumni.
By being a North Star, you will be an advisor who will provide guidance and support to younger alumni through your experiences and expertise. By sharing the knowledge you have acquired over the years in your line of work, you will support younger alumni in career navigation and serve as a role model and influential leader. In summary, your support will:
Encourage professional growth of younger alumni by providing career and professional expertise.
Give knowledge and relevant industry insights
Be an inspiration for younger alumni to achieve their own success
Provide networking opportunities.
Do you need a mentor? Before applying into this program, you have to clarify if you need a mentor and clearly articulate why you think you need one. We encourage young alumni to think through what their goals are and how a mentoring relationship will support them to achieve those goals
This Program is run by the Strathmore Alumni Office. For any clarifications please write to alumni@strathmore.edu
